Butterfly Tagging Demo and Talk October 18th 9am

  • 18 Oct 2024
  • 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
  • Page Springs Fish Hatchery Visitor Center
Friday, October 18th, 9-10 AM at Page Springs Fish Hatchery Visitor Center's Monarch Waystation

Numbered tags from the Southwest Monarch Study's citizen science program are used to track Fall-migrating Monarchs on their journey to their overwintering locations in California and Mexico.  Come see how it's done, practice tagging on some fake Monarchs, then we will catch some live butterflies to tag.  Get an update on new digitally coded radio tags being used to track migrating Monarchs.  Listen to some accounts of incredible migration feats by Monarch butterflies.  Please let presenter know you will be attending at monarchtagger@gmail.com.
