Woods Canyon Trail, Oak Creek - Saturday, January 13th, 8:30-11 AM
Meet at the parking lot of the Red Rock Ranger District Visitor Center, where restrooms are available. We will bird from the visitor center parking lot and along the Woods Canyon trail (generally flat, ~3 miles walking). The trail encompasses a variety of riparian, pinyon-juniper, and mesquite habitats. Target species will include Crissal Thrasher and Canyon Towhee, as well as a diversity of wintering sparrows (White-crowned, Song, Lincoln's, Chipping, Black-chinned, Rufous-crowned, Green-tailed Towhee) and riparian species. The trail is relatively open so bring adequate sun protection and water. Harry Jones will lead. Email hjones@birdpop.org with questions.
