Build your Birding Skill Sanctuary Success Conservation Counts
Migrant Traps off I-40, Saturday, September 2nd, 7:30am - 12:00 pm (with extensions to 3:00 pm if desired):
Meet at the birding hotspot known as Babbitt Tank off East I-40 (Exit at Buffalo Range Rd, go right-South, park in dirt area to the left - searchable on Apple and Google Maps, 35°07'25.3"N 111°11'10.3"W). We'll looking for migrating Shorebirds and warblers for about 1/2 to 1 hour.
Then we’ll caravan to Meteor Crater RV Park (only bathroom of the day) and bird for approx. two hours. (At this point, those who want to bail, are welcomed to.)
Around 10:30, those who wish to continue may caravan to further birding hotspots. Probably the "Borrow Tank" hotspot. And bird until we're finished. (At this point, those who want to bail, are welcomed to.)
Then those who want to be really far out, can head all the way out to John Lake Playa - approximately another 3 hours total. Count on an all day experience - including dirt roads.
Bring water, food, hat & sunscreen, raingear, layers, etc. Be prepared to walk uneven, muddy ground around water holes in mud.
