Mormon, Mud and Kinnikinick Lakes: NAAS and Diablo Trust Field Trip. Saturday, September 16th. 8:00 am - 1:30 pm.

This is part two of a collaborative educational experience with NAAS and the Diablo Trust. We'll further the discussion from the preceding day's event regarding our "Common Ground" - Anderson Mesa  - an Important Bird Area (IBA).  During this Field Trip, we'll learn more about birds and conservation efforts on these working lands.

Meet at the southernmost Mormon Lake Overlook. We'll bird the overlook for waterfowl and raptors. Then combine cars and head out FSR 125, birding our way to Mud Lake with a final destination of Kinnikinick Lake. Watching migration in motion is always exciting and anything is possible.

Pack a picnic lunch and camp chair - we'll lunch and bird at Kinnikinick (with vault toilet.)  Bring hat, sunblock, appropriate layers, binoculars, scope and camera as desired. For more info, contact leader: Kay Hawklee, khawklee@gmail.com. Text or call: 432-703-0007

(In case of inclement weather of winds exceeding 20 mph, the alternate date for this field trip is Saturday, September 23rd. Check back here prior to the field trip for updates on weather conditions.)
