Do You Want to be a Part of a Community Science Project for the Monarch Butterfly?
On Friday, August 4th, join us at Crescent Moon Ranch from 7:30 - 9:30 am for the International Monarch Monitoring Blitz.
Be a part of this tri-national (Canada, Mexico, and the United States) effort to support the Monarch Butterfly’s conservation by collecting observations of the Monarch’s milkweed plants. We will search for and report the total amount of Monarch eggs, caterpillars, chrysalids and adult butterflies we find. No experience is necessary; a short training will be provided before we begin.
When: Friday, August 4th, 7:30 am - 9:30 am
Where: Crescent Moon Ranch - $12 or Grand Annual Red Rock Pass required to enter the park. We will meet in the last parking lot, near the restroom and then walk to the observation location for a brief training.
Why: For more information about the International Monarch Monitoring Blitz, visit http://www.cec.org/international-monarch-monitoring-blitz/
Who: Becky Hardy will lead the walk and submit the data collected during this event. To contact Becky, email her at butterflygirl@bricksofknowledge.com.
Please give yourself enough time to enter the gate. We will start promptly at 7:30 a.m. This event is best suited for those eighteen and older.
